My sister Anne joined us yesterday and now we are officially three peas in a pod!
Mother, daughter, sister…It is just wonderful and we all are thankful to share this time.
When the temps are this hot, it is important to get out early. We hit the Kimberly Nature Trails after breakfast. The trail head to this 1500 acre park is 100 yards from our cabin. Similar to Anchorage, the trails in Kimberly are nestled on the borders of town and are multi use for bikes, skis and feet.

Topics on our hike flowed from memories of childhood and educational philosophies,
to body aches and husbands- but not cause these are similar, just 'cause.
But yes we are talking about you guys!
Down by the river...
As we sat in silence and listened to the river, I realized this was one thing I was so looking so forward to on this trip to the west-witnessing rivers-rivers that flow clear and free-with banks that are empty of people and bears- or I think they are! Rivers we can cast into, wade into, and listen to...
Our cabin had some inhabitants before we got here. This family of deer live beneath our cabin. RIGHT under the front deck so when we come and go we have to give them a few minutes to see and hear us and relocate to a comfortable distance.

This bear was on the road to town.
We went to town for groceries and enjoyed the Bavarian theme that is evident in every storefront.
Our cabin is cozy and allows us to relax out of the heat and look at maps for our next day's ventures
