Experiences shared by outdoor athletes in Alaska

Waking up early is usually related to a job:
1. Feed the dog
2. Shovel the driveway
3. Go to work
But there is one time when waking up early is a joy and that is when heading out to get first tracks in the backcountry

Many outdoor athletes know the joy of rising with the sun.

The other thing we know as outdoor athletes is patience.
Unconditional patience, as KIJIK displays below

Just like the weather, experienced partners matter when entering the backcountry

Free, fluid movement on snow, on water, in the air….
Skis, skates, wheels - no matter what the mode of travel, the movement is in relationship with the Earth.
It is empowering.
It is beautiful.

When the sun shines, the powder flies, and crowds choose skin tracks other than your own,
smiles are BIG in this Alaskan backcountry.

Cheers to all those outdoor athletes making efforts to get out.
Thanks to those offering inspirations to those learning to get out.
No matter what our level of experience or distance of our trip,
how lucky we all are to call Alaska backcountry our backyard!
Travel safe, Smile big!
