In Honor of T100

Meet T100,  a 1996 Toyota truck with 150,000 miles. It is trying hard to convince us that it is as good as a Sprinter Van. We decided to give it a true test and headed on the road for 9 days to The Yukon Territory-We had a few things on our mind for this trip...Mountain biking and mountain Biking and some more Mountain Biking.

We loaded truck up with food, drink, bikes and supplies for the week. We had a tent and planned to use it when not in full on Bear territory, otherwise you are looking at our sleeping quarters

Our first stop after 11 hours of driving from Anchorage was Kluane Lake. We pulled in at 10pm and had a gorgeous first night. The beach to ourselves and an incredible sundown sky line

We were quite content and enjoying our first night in TheYukon Territory

We awoke after an uneventful sleep in Truck and had a coffee and breakfast and headed our way to Whitehorse.

A couple items were quickly becoming favorite purchases for this trip. 

1. The $12.95 beach chairs from Target-(I got purple, Skip got green)

2. The $9.00 non stick, deep dish, fry pan from Value Village (we had fresh cooked, one pot meals every night thanks to block ice)

Speaking of block ice...

We did discuss on one of our long drives that T100 has its perks but is missing a key item, a refrigerator. That was the only reason to go to a store, to refresh the ice supply once during the week. If we had a "Sprinter Van" with a Fridge, we could have avoided civilization all together.

Even though T100 holds the gear and allows us to live out of it for weeks, we were heard saying more than once....

"I am not sure how much longer my body wants to handle bending, reaching, and / or squeezing into truck for a 10 hr stay at night" 

 Now home and unpacking I write this Blog in honor of T100, born in 1996 and going strong. It carried us 1650 miles roundtrip to Whitehorse and Carcross, over the past 9 days and it did not complain once, except a little wiper blade issue! Next , we shall see how T100 does at Salmon Stock.
