One step back in time has energized me to step forward into possibility

Camp Onaway a traditional camp for girls...100 years old...this year.

The Circle Program, a sister camp for underprivileged girls in new Hampshire...18 years old...

I attended the centennial celebration with many fellow campers, counselors and inspiring leaders this past August weekend. It was something none of us could have expected. The empowerment that came from recalling the traditions, recalling the challenges, and sharing the joys from our past experiences was fabulous.

This one step back in time has energized me to step forward with possibility and hope, into my tomorrows.
The years as a camper are far away, but the memories as a counselor and an OWLES Instructor (Onaway Wilderness Leadership Experience) have been with me from the start.

 The Rock...a special location on camp that was a place of gathering and singing, closure and celebration. It held all the same beauty and emotion as the years past!

Our Cabin groups...approx. 8 cabins per cabin group, with 2 campers in each, 2 counselors per group, for 8 weeks .

A photo wall of my OWLES years...oh what a 6 summers  this was, 14-15 year old girls, for 3.5 weeks on multi-element courses, learning about leadership, survival and wilderness skills. Thank you to all the OWLES who taught me so much over the years!

Thank you to all the people who helped make Centennial happen (including my sister who really got me to commit and I am so glad she did!) . Also thanks to all the amazing people who continue to make all these programs thrive and influence the lives of girls today.
