Just in from a women's hockey tournament in Palmer, Alaska, The "C" Cup...
Played with some new faces, current team mates, and a plethora of great women athletes. We played lots of hockey, created body aches and pains, and enjoyed a passion I am so thankful for...playing good hockey.
Our team was uniquely over 40 and had quite a bit of talent. We came away with the "C" cup championship, but more importantly I hobbled away being so thankful to live in this incredible state.
In the travel time between Anchorage and Palmer one cannot help but see our state's beauty and be inspired by the landscapes surrounding. We have so many opportunities for sports during both weeknights and weekends here. The people are also part of the glory; friends and family who are loving the action, loving the sports and getting out to play in the elements.
Back country ski conditions are inviting, the local trails are set for skate and x-country skiing, running trails are packed and the hockey games are plenty. The new challenge is balancing these passions amidst both mind and body.
Balance is my mantra this week.
Work vs Play
Family vs Friends
Fast vs Slow
Shoulds vs Wants
I am slowly learning the importance of listening to my body and it is clear, it is talking to me after this weekend tournament.
As my friend Ruth will say in her book someday..."You can have it all, just not at the same time."
Good night.
Play hard, but Play safe.
Thanks Team!
