Ihad to work today, but Skip spent his Veteran's day skiing down at Tincain on Turnagain Arm with his friend Steve. He took some good pics. In these pics he is digging a pit to evaluate the snow pack. He is part of an Avalanche observer group who reports there findings in order to educate the general public, or the public who chooses to investigate before hitting the backcountry to play in the snow. The glide cracks in one picture are a result of gravity taking over and you can see what happens-the whole snow pack cracks and glides due to water one the ground surface. Ski season is here-so we will be sure to balance the crafting photos with the backcountry ski pics.
