Another Delightful Vacation in Anchorage with Mom

I could write an essay about how wonderful my school vacation week was...Actually Izzy could write one, Jupe could write one and Skip as well. We all were so fortunate to have an uninterrupted week of daily skis and dog training session with mom.

Izzy was in heaven with solo walks almost twice a day with mom.

We headed out to ski from the house almost everyday and if not, we were driving to try another trail out, only to realize we prefer to ski from the house, with no car involved.

Mom brought fresh snow with her which was falling almost every night and then sun was shining by daylight hours.

We ventured on Nina's Route everyday and just had great conversations and learned a lot about trail maintenance from Skip throughout the skis.

The unfortunate event of the vacation was a ski injury to Jupes Achilles tendon. It occurred on mom's second day and first ski. We got Jupe in for her surgery and home with in 24 hours
All our lives were turned upside down but we are quickly appreciating that change of routines in one's life actually are healthy and good for us. Mom taught us many Mind games for Jupiter, as she will have to be coned and kenneled for a few months.

She is still our energetic 2 year old black lab with a mind to please, so we have just had to adjust how WE utilize this energy. It used to be run or ski for an hour or two, but now it is "target and touch games" and eventually we will teach her how to do the dishes and vacuum.

Our week was filled to the brim and seeing mom leave was a tough moment as I realized I had a week where I could wake up and go to sleep, each starting or ending with chats with mom, one of my favorite things.
Thank you for making the trek mom and we appreciate all your play and care! As always my mom comes to town and I get into shape and am physically exhausted with all the skiing and walking!
We loved it!
